Dumitru Constantin-Dulcan
Prof. Dr. Dumitru Constantin-Dulcan, one of the most prestigious neurologists and psychiatrists, promoter of the science of the New Spirituality in the 21st century, is a great figure of the contemporary scientific world. With a career of more than half a century in general medicine and with a double specialization in neurology and psychiatry, the result of his passion and scientific interest in the miracle of the human brain, Doctor of Medical Sciences (1976), he has acquired, over the years, also competences in neurophysiological explorations EEG, EMG, PE and Pain Therapy.
He has carried out a rich international scientific activity, manifested by his participation in courses, documentations, congresses held in major cities in Europe, America and China: Beijing, Rome, Berlin, Paris, Marseilles, Geneva, Istanbul, Vienna, Minneapolis, London, Toronto, Sydney, Bangkok, Madrid, Lisbon, Florence, Florence, Moscow, Rhodos, Nice.
He is a member of the Romanian Society of Neurology, the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO), the Romanian Society of Psychiatry, the Romanian Society of Acupuncture, the Romanian League for Mental Health, the Romanian Society of Psychoneuroendocrinology, the Society of Medical Writers and Publicists from Romania and abroad and numerous national and international scientific societies. He is Doctor Honoris Causa of the University of Pitești (2014) and of the “Vasile Goldiș” West University of Arad (2024).
As sole author or co-author, he has written more than 20 specialized, essayistic and philosophical works, most of which have been reprinted, the most well-known and appreciated by the general public being The Intelligence of Matter, first published in 1981 (enjoying a huge success, its reprinting was banned by the communist regime) and now, in 2021, in its 4th anniversary edition, completed, revised and updated, translated into English and French; The Sleep of Reason; In Search of the Lost Meaning; The Mind Beyond; The Brain and the Mind of the Universe; Chosen Words; The Healing Path.
Peace between heart and mind, in dialogue with Florentina Fântânaru; Meeting Destiny, with a preface by Ioan-Aurel Pop, etc. His works are published in the series dedicated to him by the Școala Ardeleană Publishing House in Cluj-Napoca, and he is also the coordinator of the “Noua Spiritualitate” collection of the same publishing house. He has held numerous scientific conferences and has written over 300 studies presented at national and international congresses and symposia (over one hundred participations), included in collective volumes or published in specialized journals.
The remarkable work The Intelligence of Matter was awarded the prestigious “Vasile Conta” Prize for Philosophy of the Romanian Academy in 1992, the “Constantin Noica” Prize of the Academy of Scientists in 2011, and the Award of Excellence for value and uniqueness in Romanian scientific literature in 2022, at the Performance & Excellence Gala, 12th edition, Snagov.
Over time, the scientific activity of prof. univ. dr. Dumitru Constantin-Dulcan has been honored and recognized by awards and distinctions granted by cultural and official institutions: in 2000, he was awarded the National Order “Steaua României” in the rank of Commander; in 2001, the “George Florin Cozma” Literary Award for the essay Somnul Rațiunii; in 2003, the Belgian Prize for literary criticism of Maurice Carême’s work; in 2004, the Order “Meritul Sanitar” in the rank of Officer; in 2008, the Excellence Award for the work In Search of the Lost Meaning, awarded by the Business Press Society; in 2014, the Medal of Excellence “Goldability” for the promotion of science and spirituality; in 2015, the Award of Excellence in Military Medicine; in 2015, he was nominated among the “100 Romanians for the history of the world”, as part of a Radio Romania project; in 2020, he received the Cronica Timpului Magazine Award (under the aegis of the Union of Professional Journalists of Romania), and in 2022, the Public Award at the “Celebrity of the Year” Gala, organized by Professional Celebrity.
