The author of the phenomenal book “Unconditional Parenting: From Rewards and Punishments to Love and Understanding,” a visionary critic of systems based on punishment and reward, and an international leader in educational psychology, advocates for relationship-building instead of control, and cooperation instead of coercion. He has profoundly shaped the way schools and families understand motivation, cooperation, and the learning environment, being described by Time Magazine as “perhaps the most vocal critic of the education system’s obsession with grades and tests.”

He is the American author of 14 books on education, parenting, and human behavior—Punished by Rewards. How to Avoid Red X’s, Bonuses, Praise, and Other Forms of Bribery,” “The Myth of the Spoiled Child. Questioning Stereotypes About Children and Parents,” “The Schools Our Children Deserve (Progressive Education versus Traditional Education),” and “The Myth of Homework. Why Our Children Get Too Much Unnecessary Work.” He has been a guest twice on “Oprah” as well as on numerous international TV and radio programs, including in Romania on the national TVR channel.
